Chapter 11

Backward Roll to Push Up Position on Floor

I skip over to Savannah’s house as soon as my chores are done. I hate Saturday chores, but at least they are done and I can play now. I walk up the few steps to her house and ring the doorbell. Savannah’s mom answers the door and smiles when she sees me.

“Hi, Trista,” she says.

“Can Savannah play?” I quickly ask.

“She’s at gymnastics, you guys can play when she gets back.”

“Oh.” I say deflated. “Every Saturday?” I ask, feeling cheated that I’m not good enough to go to gymnastics more than once a week.

“Just this summer so they can learn their routines for the fall,” she smiles proudly. “Would after lunch work? I can have her go over to you?”

“Yeah, okay, that works,” I reply.

She laughs, “Don’t look so sad, she’ll be home before you know it.” She chuckles and waves to me as I make my way back to my boring chore-doing house.

I go to my room and try to find a good book to read while I wait for Savannah. It takes me a while, but I finally find a good one about a wacky school. I decide to take the book outside to wait for Savannah. Once I’m outside, I survey my new yard. I haven’t really spent a lot of time out here yet. And there is a great tree with a trunk shaped like a Y, perfect for sitting with a book. I climb up easily and settle in with my book.
